Your Key to Unlocking
Great Talent

Lex Key Partners is a legal search firm built on partnership, not transactions. We work alongside law firms and in-house legal departments on everything from individual partner and associate hires to full practice group additions and C-suite placements. With national and global reach, we bring the market intelligence and candidate access that turn a search into a strategy.

Why Lex Key Partners

Legal recruiting is often treated as a transaction: a job order in, a resume out. We built Lex Key Partners because we believe the best placements come from something different, a real partnership, built on listening first and executing with precision.

We take the time to understand what you’re actually trying to build. Then we put a plan in motion, and keep you informed every step of the way, so you’re never wondering what’s happening on your behalf.

Three things set us apart:

Three things set us apart:

We listen before
we search.

Every engagement starts with a conversation about your goals, your culture, and your long-term vision, not a keyword match.

We're transparent, in real time.

You'll see exactly what work is being done for you, with regular updates and detailed reporting that shows our progress and our value.

We think beyond the placement.

Our goal isn't to fill a seat. It's to help you build a team and a firm, that succeeds for years to come.

About Us

Legal Recruiting, Done as a Partnership

Lex Key Partners was founded on a simple idea: legal recruiting should be a long-term partnership, not a one-time transaction.  Our team brings years of experience in legal search, with placements across major legal markets nationwide, as well as many states and towns that don’t make the “top markets” list, but might just be exactly where the right candidate wants to call home.

Lex Key Partners is the boutique legal search arm of index, a group of boutique search firms built and backed by some of the most accomplished and market-savvy individuals in the recruiting industry. That backing gives us the reach and resources of a much larger organization, technology, infrastructure, and financial support, while we maintain the focus and attentiveness of a boutique firm. For our clients and candidates, that combination means a search team that moves fast, thinks strategically, and never runs short on the resources needed to get a search right.

We work with law firms and in-house legal departments to build teams for the long run, and with attorneys who want a trusted advocate in their corner, one who picks up the phone, has the real conversations, and treats their career with the seriousness it deserves.

We also understand that careers don’t move in a straight line, and that the right fit today may not be the right fit years from now. Finding the point where an attorney’s priorities and a firm’s needs truly align is the work we care most about.

Where Attorneys and Firm Priorities Meet

The strongest placements happen at the point where these two sets of priorities genuinely overlap. Finding that overlap is where we spend our time.

Because what it means to thrive keeps changing, the right firm today may not be the right firm in five or ten years. We help attorneys understand what matters to them now and find the firm where those priorities genuinely align.

That overlap shifts as an attorney's career evolves, early on, it's often about compensation and paying down loans; later, about building a book of business, protecting personal time, or being present for family.

Firms are weighing their own criteria at the same time, the level of experience a candidate brings, how closely their expertise fits the practice group's needs, and what business they can realistically bring with them.

Attorneys weigh a new opportunity against a distinct set of priorities: where they want to be based, what they need to earn, how many hours they're expected to bill, the kind of work they want to spend their time on, and the size and feel of the firm itself.
